Introduction

Welcome to River Oaks Church's First Penance & First Eucharist program, offered through the ST. MARK Religious Education program. We believe that First Penance and First Eucharist are important milestones in a child's faith journey, and we are committed to providing a comprehensive and enriching experience for all participants. In this program, children will deepen their understanding and connection to the sacraments of Penance and Eucharist, preparing them to receive these sacraments for the first time.

What is First Penance?

First Penance, also known as First Reconciliation or Confession, is the sacrament through which individuals are granted forgiveness for their sins. This sacrament plays a crucial role in the spiritual development of children, as it encourages them to reflect upon their actions, ask for forgiveness, and strive for personal growth. Our First Penance program equips children with the knowledge and understanding necessary to make a meaningful confession and experience the transformative power of God's forgiveness.

What is First Eucharist?

First Eucharist, also known as First Holy Communion, is the sacrament in which individuals participate in the Body and Blood of Jesus Christ through the consecrated bread and wine. It is a celebration of the profound union between the faithful and Christ and holds great significance in Catholic tradition. Our First Eucharist program offers children a deeper understanding of the Eucharist, its meaning, and the reverence with which it should be approached.
